Nitro Tea 101: Brewing, Nitrogen Generators & Beyond

Writer's picture: MilCarbMilCarb

Nitrogen tea is special version of delicious you just can't imagine until you try it. Even less common than nitro beers or cold-brew nitro, tea is relatively untouched territory, making it a solid opportunity to stand out and drive business.

The best part: getting set up to serve nitro tea is simple, and if you use a nitrogen generator, you'll have plenty of gas to experiment with nitro craft cocktails, juice and just about whatever else you want.

How do you get started?

Easy. Brew up a big batch. Green tea, black, oolong, it's up to you and experimentation is part of the fun. A nice one pound bag of loose leaf tea is only about $20 and will get the job done. You'll want to do at least three gallons and store it in a keg.

You then store it in your beer cooler and hook it up to your tap or, in the case of our NitroBev 360 Nitrogen Generator System, store and pour right where you're serving.

Why Nitrogen for Tea?

In the process outlined above, the nitrogen generator for tea infuses it with those famous little nitrogen bubbles. And creates a difference guests notice...

The Presentation

You can do better than a fancy little steeper with a lemon on a plate. Set down a nitro and watch guest get hypnotized by the cascading bubbles and a creamy head.

The Aroma

Nitrogen ups the aromatics of tea to add a new dimension to the drinking experience. Imagine notes of lavender or jasmine wafting up into your guests faces.

The Mouthfeel

Because nitrogen gas is dense and non soluble, nitro tea takes on a thick, smooth texture that's a delight to drink.

The Flavor

Nitro delivers a natural creaminess without milk or sugar, allowing guests to skip the extra calories without sacrificing taste.

The Sales

Tea on tap is still hard to find. Being one of the first restaurants in your area means you automatically have a special draw that diners will remember and share with friends.

Make it Happen with an N2U Nitrogen Generator

As opposed to tanks, Milcarb’s N2U Nitrogen generators use advanced membrane technology to pull nitrogen from the air. Unless you’re serving a very low volume of nitrogen drinks, generators ultimately pay for themselves by replacing tank delivery costs.

Equally important, generators eliminate the need to change tanks and the resulting hassle/downtime, much less downtime and lost profits if a tank runs out and your operation doesn’t have a back up.

Best of all — the unlimited, on-demand nitrogen that comes with a MilCarb N2U nitrogen generator doesn’t just stop at nitro tea, but can be used for your draft beer, cold-brew coffee, craft cocktails,  juice and beyond.
