No. While Milcarb offers three standard Carbo-Switch configurations, the system can be expanded to accommodate additional cylinders as your gas demand increases.For the simplest installation, Milcarb recommends selecting the appropriate cylinder configuration when the system is originally ordered. If your application grows over time, additional cylinders can be added using Milcarb-approved high-pressure expansion fittings. Because these fittings require proper thread sealing and assembly during installation, expansion is possible but is typically more convenient when the desired cylinder configuration is specified at the time of purchase.
The Milcarb Carbo-Switch is designed so all cylinders connected to the primary bank are manifolded together and supply gas as a single source. As gas is consumed, the pressure in the entire primary bank decreases together rather than one cylinder emptying at a time.When the pressure in the primary bank drops to approximately 200 PSI, the Carbo-Switch automatically changes over to the reserve cylinder bank, providing a continuous flow of CO₂ without service interruption to your beverage equipment.After the changeover occurs, the depleted primary cylinders are removed and sent for refill. The reserve cylinders, now supplying gas to the system, are moved to the primary side, and the newly filled cylinders are installed as the new reserve bank. This rotation ensures the Carbo-Switch is always prepared for the next automatic changeover while maintaining a continuous flow of CO₂ without service interruption.
Each cylinder connected to the Milcarb Carbo-Switch has its own pressure gauge. The gauge reading indicates the amount of CO₂ remaining in that cylinder, making it easy to identify which cylinders have been depleted and require replacement.After the Carbo-Switch changes over, the cylinders on the primary side will have reached their usable pressure and should be removed for refill. Once refilled, those cylinders are installed as the new reserve bank, while the previous reserve bank continues as the primary supply. Yes. With the proper tools and mounting hardware, the Milcarb Carbo-Switch can be installed by anyone familiar with high-pressure CO₂ systems. The Carbo-Switch is designed to be securely mounted to a wall or other suitable surface before connecting the CO₂ cylinders.After installation, slowly open the cylinder valves and verify all connections are leak-free using an approved leak detection solution. An additional way to verify the system is leak-free is to use your existing CO₂ primary regulator or a newly purchased CO₂ primary regulator. Once the system is pressurized, close the cylinder valves and monitor the regulator's supply gauge while the system is inactive. If the gauge pressure remains steady, the system is holding pressure.
